Business Development

A powerful business question

This year will begin to see the culmination of an enormous amount of work in systemising what we do. Our goal is to reach a much wider audience so we have been developing more easily repeatable processes and products from our knowledge base.

One of the problems, if you’re a coach, consultant, designer or anyone who provides a service is that the business model is work-get paid, work-get paid, work-get-paid…etc. If you stop, it all stops.

I like Tom Antion’s (www.antion.com) model of work, get paid, get paid, get paid, get paid… etc. This isn’t a new idea. In Financial Services, which is my background, the idea of creating a passive income stream has always been part of the business model. The traditional way, in that business, is through renewal commissions, fund based commission and retainer fees. But there are many ways to do the work up front and reap the rewards on an ongoing basis, especially with intellectual property.

By creating passive income you create the opportunity for more time off, more income and to make your business far more valuable if you want to sell it. That’s good enough for me!

To begin this journey you have to free up more time to go to work on your business. This means asking yourself the question ‘How can I deliver what I do more efficiently, effectively and profitably, while increasing the value to each and every customer?’
