Business Development
A powerful business question
This year will begin to see the culmination of an enormous
amount of work in systemising what we do. Our goal is to reach
a much wider audience so we have been developing more easily
repeatable processes and products from our knowledge base.
One of the problems, if you’re a coach, consultant,
designer or anyone who provides a service is that the business
model is work-get paid, work-get paid, work-get-paid…etc.
If you stop, it all stops.
I like Tom Antion’s (www.antion.com)
model of work, get paid, get paid, get paid, get paid…
etc. This isn’t a new idea. In Financial Services, which
is my background, the idea of creating a passive income stream
has always been part of the business model. The traditional
way, in that business, is through renewal commissions, fund
based commission and retainer fees. But there are many ways
to do the work up front and reap the rewards on an ongoing
basis, especially with intellectual property.
By creating passive income you create the opportunity for
more time off, more income and to make your business far more
valuable if you want to sell it. That’s good enough
for me!
To begin this journey you have to free up more time to go
to work on your business. This means asking yourself the question
‘How can I deliver what I do more efficiently, effectively
and profitably, while increasing the value to each and every
customer?’
